Today we had to bring in examples of good and bad typography. It took me a while to even decide or find some bad typography - not that there is not any out there because there is I just did not know if I was looking for the right kind of typography if I chose a menu for example was that what they wanted I do not know but I finally decided on these ….
These above are the examples I chose of bad typography (the last photograph is my own), I have chose them all for different reasons but it is only my opinion that they are bad. The first image is of some graffiti that was clearly not thought through very well, the lines are wobbly without any obvious reason they did not even have enough paint to finish it so for this reason I think it looks messy. The second image is a quote now its okay but I have chose it as bad typography as I think the words are too close together and the colours do not complement each other, sometimes the words being close together works in some designs but I do not think it has been done well here. The third image is a caution sign to warn you to drive slow as there are children playing but it actually reads ‘extremely slow children playing’ this could have been avoided if the words were arranged in a different order or there was an obvious gap between the word slow and children but there is not and therefor might not be taken seriously or it could be taken offensively and for these reasons that is why I have chosen them as bad typography.

These are the examples of good typography I have chosen again for all different reasons. The first image is made out of paper it is a very creative piece and it stands out this is why I like it. The second image is also creative but it uses letters and symbols you find on a key board to create the typography and also to show what the typography is saying. The design says Sad Mood and formed out of the type you can see a face that looks sad - it is very clever. The third design is very decorative and each letter is different but keeps in style of the others and is therefore very effective in my eyes.
